About Conference
Department of Visual Communication Design, YunTech has been organizing the International Conference and Workshop Visual Communication Design (ICWVCD) since 2019. The themes over the years have consistently reflected the role of design in cultural transformation, technological advancement, and social change. From 2019's "Culture and Communication", 2020's "Tradition and Innovation", 2021's "The Virtual and Realistic Communication of Visual Design", 2022's "Track of Time", 2023's "After the Deconstruction and Reconstruction", 2024's "The Interdependence of Emptiness and Substance", to 2025's "Mutual Enhancement of Five Colors".
2026, generative AI is gradually being integrated into the design and production process. This year's conference, titled "Spectrum in Essence", explores how the essence of design carries core ideas, and how diverse, comprehensive, and precise visual expressions (spectrum) are presented through various creative media and techniques. It emphasizes the human designer's active mastery over concepts, thinking, and creativity during the generative process, responding to the renewed reflection and practical demands on designers regarding essence, creativity, and media use in the era of generative AI.
Conference Theme
The 2026 ICWVCD International Visual Communication Design Symposium adopts “Spectrum in Essence” as its annual theme, responding to the era of generative AI by re-examining the essence and value of design. “Essence” symbolizes the pure foundation and intellectual roots of creation, representing the bedrock from which all forms and expressions emerge. “Spectrum” serves as a metaphor for the rich layers and expansive possibilities of creativity as it refracts through multiple media and technologies. When designers reconnect with the primal essence and intrinsic intent of creation, technology ceases to be merely a tool and instead becomes a medium for refracting creative energy. This allows design to emerge from its core essence, gradually unfolding into a richly diverse, infinite spectrum.
